"Nothing happens in missionary work until you find someone to teach." -PMG page 161

We have been assisting the Elders teach a wonderful family from Cameroon.  They are from the English speaking section of Cameroon (I didn't know it existed) so they speak English very well.  They live in the apartments directly behind the chapel.  They just showed up a church one morning!  They moved into the apartment several months ago and had been wondering if it really was a church because there was no cross on the building.  They are Christians, having mostly attended a Presbyterian church in Cameroon and a nearby Catholic church since coming to MontrĂ©al.  When they saw the name on the church building they looked up the service time and just came to church.  They ask excellent questions, keep their commitments and are anxious to be baptized.  The only problem is the husband just got a good job in Texas so he is away weeks at a time.  He found the missionaries in Arlington, TX and has started attending church there.  We suggested our Elders work with the Arlington Elders to coordinate the lesson via Zoom so the family can be taught together.

Our last Zone Conference was on Friday.  Sorry, I haven't received the photo yet!  We were asked to share some highlights of our mission and bear our testimonies at the beginning of the meeting.  The focus of Zone Conference was "Come unto Christ" as stated in the missionary purpose.  I love this quote from Hyrum Smith: "Preach the first principles of the gospel - preach them over and over again; you will find that day after day new ideas and additional light concerning them will be revealed to you.  You can enlarge upon them so as to comprehend them clearly.  You will then be able to make them more plainly understood."

We helped Solomon and Wumi move into a new apartment this week.  It is so much nicer than where they were living.  In a better neighborhood, closer to their work places and a much cleaner and brighter building and apartment.  The new apartment has a much better feeling to it.  The only hiccup is that it is outside the LaSalle ward boundaries.  But we're not saying anything!

Friday evening we went to dinner with Sister Corbett and Sister Drews.  The four of us arrived within a week of each other and will all be leaving in the next three weeks.

We had dinner with Heather Ashby and the Sisters this evening.  We forgot to take the picture until after the missionaries left.

Our sweet Sister Smith passed away earlier this afternoon.  I am so grateful that she was finally released from all her earthly pain and suffering.  We will miss visiting with her every week.

"... there have also been comfort and reassurance and certainty that death, though bitter to observe, is not the end, but is, rather, only another graduation from which we go on to a better life.  But death is not final. Though it seems so when its dark shroud overshadows mortal life, to those who accept the Christ and His eternal mission there is light and comfort, there is assurance, there is certainty (President Gordon B Hinckley).
