Happy Memorial Day!   We were in the MTC with Tom and Sue Spackman.  They are currently serving in Kenya as the Area Medical Advisors (not sure that title is correct).  Sue and John grew up together in Raymond Alberta.  Sue and Tom also served in Ghana after we did so we know a lot of the same people.  I borrowed this from their blog today: "Today is the day of Pentecost, when the disciples of Christ were given the Holy Ghost. I love the recounting in Acts 2: from heaven a sound of a mighty rushing wind which filled the house, cloven tongues like as fire, sat upon each of them and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues. The response was amazing: are not all these that speak, Galileans? How hear we every man in our own tongue wherein we were born?   If you have not read this chapter in a while, it may be worth a few minutes today." We continued touring with Barbara and Dennis on Monday.  We drove to Ottawa an...

On Saturday Kemi Odewale Opabiyi was baptized by Solomon.  The Sisters have been teaching her for a few weeks.  Kemi is a lovely woman from Nigeria.  With all the baptisms of African people who have immigrated to Canada, we kind of feel like we're serving in Africa again! Sister Thompson, Kemi, Sister Hughes Spring is beautiful in MontrĂ©al.  We discovered a new family in the park yesterday. Seven fluffy little ducklings This guy was posing by the bridge on Saturday I don't know birds very well - some kind of crane or similar looking to a heron?  Whatever it is, we've never seen one here before. Remember the giant red shoe from a couple weeks ago?  I found the bag to go with the shoes. In case you forgot, here's the shoe again My sister and brother-in-law have been here visiting with us this week.  We have had a great time touring together.  They are getting to see MontrĂ©al and we are visiting the sites for the last time, probably!  We rode th...

Happy Mother's Day! We are beginning to experience the start of our "lasts."  Thursday was the last District Council before transfers next week.  Several of our missionaries have been in this area for some time and we suspect there may be changes this transfer.  Next week will be the last transfer of our mission.  Not that we get transferred, but sometimes it is difficult to love the young Elders and Sisters and then watch them move on without us! Lasalle District Council May 11 Elder and Sister Kjar leave next Sunday This is also our last spring in Quebec.  Our timing was all wrong - we should have come to enjoy the beautiful spring/summer/fall seasons twice rather than two nasty winters!  It is finally warming up and we see signs of spring everywhere. Beautiful trees in Angrignon Park Squirrels in the park The window washers have been busy at our apartment complex.  They reach all the way to the sixth floor with this brush gadget, attached to a hose ...
