Happy Easter!  It is a beautiful, sunny day here.  Still cool temps but at least we can see sunshine!  Sacrament meeting was nice and we had a little miracle of our own today.  Remember cranky old Margo, who never stops complaining?  We have seen a change in her lately - she is beginning to turn outward a little.  She calls to tell us news from the U.S. (not that we really want to know!!) and to ask if we are well.  She had agreed to come to Sacrament meeting with us today since it would only be one hour.  She called yesterday complaining about how cold she had been during the power outage and that she didn't feel well.  We were sure she would back out of going to church.  We called her at 8:00 am this morning and she agreed to go!  She was pleasant the entire time we were with her.  We are grateful to the ward members that recognized her and came over to speak with her.

I posted a separate blog about my getaway to Alberta.  This blog will probably seem a little disjointed, as I was gone part of the week and didn't post last weekend.  It's a bit of catch up and the end of this week.

I flew home from Calgary on Wednesday, April 5.  It was a very cold morning; my flight departed at 6:00 am so I was awake at 3:00 am.  The plane had to be de-iced before we took off.

We landed in the middle of an ice storm.  By the time we taxied to the gate, the plane's windows were coated with ice.  I didn't realize what a devastating storm it was until much later.  Nearly 500,000 homes were without power and some still do not have their power restored.  We were fortunate in that we were only without power for about two hours.

LaSalle District Council before transfers this week

Transfers were on Thursday.  The Elders remained the same; we have two new Sisters, one directly from the MTC.  Her name is Sister Thompson and she is from Springville, Utah.

They have been trimming trees and removing some trees from Angrignon Park lately.  As we walk through, we see piles of logs like this.  We wonder what they do with the nice firewood.

We were asked to participate in a Primary activity yesterday.  They did a "Walk with Jesus" to learn about the last week of Jesus' earthly life.  We were assigned The Last Supper room.  We talked about love and service when Jesus washed the disciple's feet.  The most important was Jesus introducing the Sacrament.  We had little pieces of flat bread and dixie cups with a tiny bit of water to keep them occupied while John talked briefly about the bread and water.  There were several other rooms where they learned about Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Gethsemane, etc.  The Primary went to a lot of work decorating each room.  At the end they had an Easter egg hunt and a light lunch.

We were asked several times, even by adults, if we were Mary and Joseph.  No, this is Easter, not Christmas!  We were just trying to be good disciples.

“Because I live, ye shall live also” (John 14:19).

We testify of the reality of Jesus Christ; that He lives and love us.  How grateful we are to Him!
