I have to repent of blaming the Chinese restaurant for causing food poisoning and making John ill.  Last Sunday evening I started throwing up and having the same symptoms.  We know that food poisoning doesn't wait that long to attack so we have to assume it was a bug we both caught somewhere.  Except for running to the corner store for more Pepto and ginger-ale, we were pretty much confined to the apartment most of the week.  We felt well enough to go back to work on Thursday but neither of us feel like our energy level is back to normal yet.

On our walk to Sister Smith's nursing home, I tried to get a good photo of the Jacques Cartier bridge.  We walk under the beams and bridge supports - it's kind of fascinating to see all that at street level while the bridge is so high over the river.  It was a very rainy day and the shot I wanted would require me standing in the middle of traffic on a busy road, so decided it wasn't worth the risk.

The fall colors are beautiful here.  We meant to go hiking on Mount Royal a week ago but John was ill.  I think we are a little late now.  Each time we walk through the park there are more leaves on the ground than the trees.

We had to decline all Thanksgiving dinner offers but a sister here in Châteauguay brought us the whole meal deal on Monday evening.  We didn't feel like eating any of it until Tuesday evening (John's appetite was returning) and Wednesday for me.  Thanksgiving leftovers are my favorite!

There was another baptism on Saturday evening.  Okorie Felix Onyemauchechukwu (I dare you to try pronouncing it) was baptized by Alex.  Fortunately he goes by Felix and everyone calls him Brother Felix.

I don't remember how much I have talked about Alex.  He is from Russia, was baptized a little over a year ago in New Zealand and (you may have noticed) is 7'3'' tall.  When he hugs me, my head is in his armpit!  He is participating in our temple prep class now.  The friend that baptized him lives in London now and want Alex to go there to receive his endowment so he can be his escort.  If he decides to do that, we will be disappointed not to be with him but understand.

  1. I love reading your posts and to see the beautiful parts of Canada I haven't seen. WOW, is that Elder tall! Missionary work and service is so exciting. We serve in the temple and are ordinance workers on Saturday am shift. We go every Thursday and do two endowments. Yesterday we went and cleaned the Meridian Temple for 4 hours. Tomorrow we are going to the church orchard to sort peaches to ship. Its great to be in a community where we can do that. Love you Karen
