A few weeks ago we decided that we needed a better idea where more of our ward members live.  So I made banana or zucchini bread (believe it or not, zucchini isn't nearly as popular in Quebec as it is in Utah.  It's almost hard to find, even at the farmers markets) and we delivered the treats to member's homes.

One day's work

Our intent wasn't necessarily a visit, just to be more visible and to learn where members are located.  If it resulted in a visit, so much the better!  We tried to arrive around dinner time, thinking more people would be home then.  We left many on the doorstep with our card attached and received a thank you text from most of them.  We started in our Châteauguay community and have a long way to go!

Last week the Young Women's presidency was changed because the President is moving out of the ward.  Their current house is in Châteauguay, not far from our apartment.  On Wednesday evening we went to help load the truck.  I got my phone out to take some photos and the two bishopric counselors both said "take our picture, take our picture!"

Brothers Bruno Morais and Francisco Valencia

They are clowning for the camera at the top of the stairs but not so much as they carry the dryer down the stairs!  These two brother moved the washer and dryer, the stove, fridge and a freezer out of the house.

Will it all fit?

Waiting for space in the truck, and catching their breath

The family has four young children so there were a lot of household items plus boxes and boxes to move.  They are moving to Sorel-Tracy, about an hour north of here.  There is no English speaking ward nearby so they will attend a French ward.  None of the children speak French but I guess they will learn.

After service at the food bank on Friday we went downtown so I could get my haircut.  We planned to have dinner with Sister Corbett but she wasn't feeling well and asked if we would take a newly arrived senior couple to dinner instead.  Elder and Sister Loftus are from Portland, Oregon but recently moved to South Jordan, Utah.  They were in the same ward with our granddaughter Stephanie and her family.  Loftuses arrived in Montréal Thursday.  They will be working with the YSA wards and teaching Institute classes.

So, the blind leading the blind, we walked a block over to Saint-Denis street to find someplace to eat.  Saint-Denis is a trendy street with lots of bars, shops and restaurants.  We decided on a Mexican restaurant called Manana.   It is the first Mexican food we have eaten here and was very good.  You know that food pictures are coming now...

Solomon and Wumi have been friending another couple from Nigeria.  We went to teach them two weeks ago.  They live in the boundaries of the Montréal Ward and the Stake President asked that they be taught and baptized there.  Our Sisters have been team teaching with the Montréal Sisters and we explained the geographic set up of wards and stakes and the benefits of attending their assigned ward.  They want to attend with Solomon and Wumi but understand.  Today we attended the Montréal Ward with Femi and Seun and introduced them to John's friend Emil.  There are several other families from Nigeria and Ghana in that ward so we think they will be okay.  Their baptism is on Wednesday.

Thought for the evening:  Heavenly Father does not expect each of us to be the same but what He expects of each of us is the same; to consecrate our lives to Him and to continue working toward our individual perfection.  The perfect me will not be the same as the perfect you.
