July 18-24, 2022

We had a district P-day on Monday.  The district leader sent us a list of suggestions and asked us to vote for the option we wanted to do.  When the options included 1. Spikeball at the park, 2. Senior vs young missionaries basketball (there are two senior couples), 3. District dance party and 4. Saint Joseph's Oratory, it was fairly obvious what the young ones wanted to do.  Both senior couples made alternate (and better) suggestions but we all went to Saint Joseph's again.

Saint Joseph's Oratory

It's a repeat photo from a previous post!  The senior couples sat at a table by the gift shop and chatted while the young missionaries explored the Oratory.  They had a good time and we were happy to sit so it worked out well.  Transfers are this week so it is probably the last time these missionaries will be together.

Sisters Barlow & Ledding, Elders Loveland, Johnson, MacDonald & Sharp

We met with Sister Liang one last time before she went to the temple on Saturday to receive her endowments.  I mentioned in a previous post that Brother Liang (not yet a member) does all the cooking, then leaves while we eat with the family.  On Wednesday he sat at the table and ate dinner with us.  He did excuse himself while we talked to Sister Liang about temple things.  When we were leaving he came out again and talked to us while we put our shoes on, then walked out with us.  Small, small as we used to say in Ghana.

The temple session started 25 minutes late and we needed to be back to the chapel for a baptism at 2:00 pm.  Several ward members in the session also needed to attend the baptism so they waited until 2:30 to start.

Zion Zendaya Rodney and her mom Nicola

Zion is an adorable 8-year-old.  She loves to draw and is quite talented.  We gave her a sketch book and some fancy colored pencils for her art supplies.  She was quite the princess at her baptism with her crown and birthday sash with the twinkling lights.

Erma Rodney

Sister Rodney is Zion's grandmother.  She is the ward "baker" and makes the bread for the Sacrament each week.

The four Lasalle missionaries sang at Zion's baptism.  Elder MacDonald has been hiding his singing voice all the time we have known him.  Sister Ledding talked the Elders into not only singing but singing a solo!  They did a great job.  I have the video but it exceeds the size limit for a blog and I'm not smart enough to know how to condense it.  You'll just have to take my word for it!

It was a spiritual Saturday with Zion's baptism and being in the temple with Xinyan.  We are working with a brother who will receive his endowments on Friday and there is another 8-year-old baptism on Tuesday.
